Rapper Marcelo D2 and Orquestra Bamba Social, in the form of a samba circle, are the protagonists of a show full of animation that promises to infect the public with the best Brazilian rhythms. The meeting is scheduled for the next 27th of January, at 22:00, in the Salão Preto e Prata of Casino Estoril.
Marcelo Maldonado Peixoto, better known as Marcelo D2, has been spreading beats around the world since the 90s. He is a musician, composer, rapper, film director, father, and grandfather. At the age of 55, with a career spanning 25, and that restless creative spirit, Marcelo D2 is always looking for something new, different, to make art.
And so, he continues to write his story as one of the most iconic figures in contemporary Brazilian music. From the creation of Planet Hemp, in 1990, to his last solo work, in 2021, produced in live broadcasts open to the public from his living room in the middle of the pandemic, Marcelo D2 maintains his subversive identity, whether it is about the decriminalization of cannabis, rhyming about the political and social ills of the country or talking about love.
The passion for samba was what brought together, in 2012, a collective of Portuguese-Brazilian musicians in the city of Porto. Under the name of Orquestra Bamba Social, the group revisits several classics of Brazilian music, recreating them and adding sounds such as jazz, funk, and hip-hop.
During Marcelo D2’s visit to Portugal in 2018, Orquestra Bamba Social accompanied the Brazilian rapper in his live performance at Expofacic, resulting in a perfect partnership, also recorded in the studio, on the theme “Cadê Cascais”, part of the album “Na Fé ”, edited in 2020.
The next one re-edits a new chapter, as Marcelo D2 and Bamba Social (this time in a samba circle format) get back together for special concerts – Carnival dances – with Samba classics and tributes to some of the greatest architects in a music Brazilian company, including D2 itself.
