Raul Midón stops by Portugal on his European tour

Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Raul Midón returns to Europe in 2026 for a new tour that will visit Portugal on two already confirmed dates. He will perform on February 19th at HotFive in Porto and on February 21st at Casa Capitão in Lisbon. Tickets are now available at the usual locations.
Recognised by critics as a “one-man band” (The New York Times), Raul Midón transforms his guitar into an orchestra and his voice into a choir, in a style that blends soul, jazz, Latin rhythms, and unmistakable acoustic virtuosity. Over his more than two-decade career, he has already received two Grammy nominations in the Best Jazz Album category: Bad Ass and Blind (2017) and If You Really Want (2018). Both are considered outstanding examples of his signature style, which fuses jazz with soul, folk, R&B, and Latin influences. He has earned accolades from the likes of Quincy Jones, Elton John, and Bill Withers, collaborated with artists such as Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Marcus Miller, Roberta Flack, and Snoop Dogg, and left his mark on major stages and festivals around the world.
With his most recent album, Lost & Found (2024), Midón reaffirms his status as a unique storyteller and a musician who continues to push boundaries. His return to Portugal also celebrates the 20th anniversary of State of Mind, the debut album produced by Arif Mardin that has become a modern soul and jazz classic.
Born in New Mexico, Raul is the son of an Argentine father (a dancer) and an African-American mother. He is one of the couple’s two twins (his brother is a NASA engineer). He became blind as a baby after a long period in an incubator. However, blindness didn’t stop him from starting to play drums at the age of four, an instrument he would later trade for the guitar. Accustomed to listening to music at home from a young age (his father was an avid lover of various musical styles and owned a vast record collection), Raul Midón honed his current signature guitar style, first at a school for the blind, then at high school in Santa Fe, and finally at the University of Miami, where he graduated in 1990.
A musician in demand by artists such as Alejandro Sanz, Jose Feliciano, Julio Iglesias, and Shakira, it was after a tour with the singer that he decided to settle in New York, embarking on a solo career where his distinctive guitar style (with many influences) and a distinctive vocal delivery, particularly scat (improvisation) and mouth trumpet (where the voice takes on the sound of a trumpet), became his trademark.
