Real Hotels Group Celebrates Saint Martin’s Day in Royal Style

Chestnut flavor and "Capsule Creations" take over three Hotels and a Restaurant

The Real Hotels Group celebrates Saint Martin’s Day with chestnuts, Jeropiga (a fortified wine), and special creations in three units under the “Real” brand and in the Group’s newest flagship restaurant, Restaurante 550º, which is already part of Lisbon’s flavour (and entertainment) route.

While the weather doesn’t grant a true Saint Martin’s Summer in 2025, the Real Hotels Group doesn’t give up on what this event has to offer: the aroma and crunchy flavor of warm chestnuts, the sweet, warm, and slightly liqueur-like character of Jeropiga, and even gastronomic “capsule creations” will mark a Saint Martin’s Day in Royal Style, with gastronomic and entertainment offerings that warm body and soul.

Until November 16th, at the Grande Real Villa Itália Hotel & SPA in Cascais, the Chef transforms the couvert into a small autumn ritual with the “blessing” of Saint Martin. Chestnuts are the star of an amuse-bouche offered at every table, a celebratory gesture that changes according to the kitchen’s inspiration. Among the surprise creations, you’ll find a poultry croquette with caramelised chestnut purée, or another combination that highlights the simplicity of the season.

In Lisbon, the Hotel Real Palácio follows the tradition of celebrating Saint Martin’s Day on November 11th with all guests and visitors: chestnuts and jeropiga (a type of fortified wine) will be available throughout the day, both at Real Cozinha and Real Sports Bar. The weekly menu also features a special dish celebrating the date and autumn: a super creamy mushroom risotto with chestnuts and duck confit.

Still in Grande Alface, as one would expect – being a restaurant with a warm atmosphere and a wood-fired oven right in the city – 550º brings the spirit of Saint Martin to the streets: on November 11th, between 4 pm and 7 pm, chestnuts will be offered to anyone passing by the door and on the street. The following day, November 12th, the warmth and the offering of chestnuts will be repeated during 550º Weds, starting at 6 pm. Note that Weds is a weekly gathering on Wednesdays, which has become a midweek ritual for enjoying flavours, music, and good humour at 550º.

For those celebrating Saint Martin’s Day in the south, in search of its famous summer, at the Grande Real Santa Eulália Resort & Hotel Spa, the Bar Real becomes the meeting point on Saint Martin’s Day. Chestnuts will be offered throughout the day on November 11th, accompanied by glasses of jeropiga (a type of fortified wine) or Irish Coffee at special prices. At 4 pm, this special date comes even more alive with a small showcooking session, where the aroma of roasted chestnuts mingles with the sounds and flavours of the Algarve sea.
