The Real Marina Hotel & Spa returns to the Seafood Festival, from August 9th to 14th, with a new image and a renovated space with more seating, inviting everyone to stop, snack, and toast, not by the river, but by the estuary. Democratic, relaxed, where the greatest luxury is truly the flavors of the sea, the new concept of the Real Marina Hotel & Spa reflects the soul of the region and the partnership that has lasted nearly 10 years with the Olhão City Hall in this iconic event that “never takes a hit,” but leaps out of the water for true odes to seafood.
To ensure no one misses out on the “Real” experience, the Real Marina Hotel & Spa boasts a capacity of approximately 180 people and a menu designed and led by Chef Hélder Soares of Grande Real Santa Eulália, who created a special menu inspired by the Ria Formosa. The venue also offers an exclusive bonus for those with an eye for opportunity: by making a reservation via email or phone, you’ll receive a 10% discount.
Every day, there’s a different speciality, telling the story of the Algarve at the table. The festival begins with a sea bass and seafood cataplana (day 9), continues with a shrimp and coriander açorda that adds a touch of summer flavor (day 10), gives way to the comforting sea bass pasta with Atlantic shrimp (day 11), and then plunges into the intensity of the octopus, shrimp, and sweet potato cataplana (day 12). On the 13th, it’s the turn of cuttlefish and shellfish feijoada, and to close with a touch of land and sea, on the 14th, a pork loin cataplana with Algarve-style cockles is served—a true tour of flavours, where each dish is an invitation to savour the Ria.
“We envisioned a menu that was authentically Algarve, especially Olhão, but with a celebratory touch. That’s why we chose a tribute to a ‘fruit of the sea’ for each day. We want those who visit us to recognize the flavors of the sea, experience the freshness of the produce, and take home a little of the energy of Olhão, such a precious southern region,” explains Chef Hélder Soares.
In addition to these dishes, the menu includes classics like seafood rice (€32), seafood xerém (€18), stuffed crab (€30), and fresh appetizers like oysters au naturel (€12.50), Bulhão Pato-style seafood (€25), or octopus salad (€15). For dessert, Dom Rodrigo (€4) and António’s dessert (€7) conclude this flavorful journey through the eastern Algarve. Dishes are available dine-in and to-go, and prices range from €10 to €55, with several affordable options designed for sharing.
For those looking to take a slice of the Seafood Festival home with them, there’s a delicious takeout menu ready to surprise. From oysters au naturel with shallot and lemon vinegar, to shrimp cooked with fleur de sel, to fresh octopus salad with bell peppers, or the irresistible Black Tiger shrimp sautéed with garlic and lemon. For those who love comfort food, there are also braised bifanas or rustic veal steaks, breaded seafood strips with garlic mayonnaise, shrimp pie, cockle rissoles with cuttlefish ink, chicken drumsticks, and vegetable samosas.
With a privileged view of the festival stage, good food, and a welcoming atmosphere, the new space at the Real Marina Hotel & Spa will once again be one of the Algarve’s great summer gathering spots, where dinners taste of the sea and, this year, will be set to—or accelerated by—the sounds of D.A.M.A, Nininho Vaz Maia, Xutos & Pontapés, Ivandro, Richie Campbell, and Menos é Mais.
