Spanish royalty delighted with Hotel Meliá Madeira Mare

As part of the visit of the Duchess of Lugo and the Countess of La Ventosa to Madeira Island

Recently, the Meliá Madeira Mare Hotel, located in Funchal, had the honour of receiving a visit from Infanta Elena de Borbón, Duchess of Lugo, accompanied by Rita Allende Salazar, Countess of La Ventosa. At the end of their stay, both had high praise for both the hotel and Madeira Island.

For a few days, the two Spanish royals had the opportunity to visit the hotel’s facilities, enjoying the hospitality that characterizes it. Great admiration was expressed for the quality of the services, the elegance and comfort of the amenities and also for the excellence of the service provided.

The Duchess of Lugo, sister of Philip VI, current King of Spain, highlighted the richness and diversity of local cuisine, especially that served in the hotel’s restaurants. Madeiran cuisine, which harmonizes Mediterranean influences with Atlantic flavours, was one of the highlights of her stay.

On the other hand, the Countess of La Ventosa, daughter of the former Chief of Protocol of the Spanish Royal House and a long-time friend of the Infanta, demonstrated that she was impressed by the unique beauty of Madeira Island. The stunning landscapes along with the rich cultural heritage were the perfect location for a relaxing retreat.

This visit – and the appreciative comments it generated – reflect Hotel Meliá Madeira Mare’s commitment to offering an incomparable experience to its guests, involving them in the natural charm of the surrounding environment.
