On June 21, 2025, at 10 am, the Jamor Sports Park will host the P-Race – Recordati Prostate Race 2025, an event that aims to raise awareness of prostate cancer and other diseases of this organ.
Prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer among men in developed countries, including Portugal. The Prostate Institute estimates that between 5,000 and 6,000 new cases are diagnosed in Portugal each year, with a mortality rate of approximately 1,800 men per year. The likelihood of suffering from a prostate tumour increases with age. By the age of 80, more than 80% of men suffer from this malignant tumour. In addition to cancer, other benign prostate diseases, which significantly affect the well-being and quality of life of men and their families, are often undervalued and not treated properly. To this end, it is urgent to raise awareness among the male population about the early detection of these problems. The fight against this disease can be won if the tumour is detected in its early stages, and it is essential that men over 45 undergo regular check-ups.
More than just a race, the P-Race – Recordati Prostate Race 2025 is a movement to raise awareness and support this cause. Recordati, a company committed to men’s health, is proud to be the main sponsor of this initiative, reinforcing the importance of early diagnosis and appropriate treatment to improve the quality of life of affected men.
“Recordati has been at the forefront of developing solutions that improve men’s quality of life, helping them enjoy a longer, healthier and more productive life. It was with this commitment in mind that we decided to support this initiative, taking an important step in the fight against a disease that affects thousands of men in Portugal,” says Rui Rijo Ferreira, Marketing Director at Jaba Recordati.
The 3rd edition of the P-Race is organised by the Instituto da Próstata, Associação Portuguesa dos Doentes da Próstata (APDP) and Associação de Atletismo de Lisboa, with Recordati as the main sponsor and the support of the Oeiras City Council. The proceeds from race registrations will be donated to the APDP, supporting patients and promoting research into prostate cancer.
“Beating prostate cancer starts with awareness and early diagnosis. As a survivor, I know how important it is not to ignore the signs and seek help in time. The P-Race is not just a race, it is a message of hope for thousands of men and their families. Together, we can make a difference in the fight against this disease”, highlights José Graça, Vice-President of the Brazilian Association of Prostate Patients (APDP).
The P-Race is an opportunity for everyone to actively participate in raising awareness about this health problem and help promote research. Whether running or walking, the important thing is to show up, raise awareness and contribute to a future with more early diagnoses and better treatments.
