Historical recreation about Joana Forjaz Pereira at the Santa Maria da Feira Castle

The Castle of Santa Maria da Feira goes back in time, to the 17th century, and will be the setting for a historical recreation of Joana Forjaz Pereira, the 6th Countess of Feira, the first woman to receive this title. The theater show “O Tempo da História: Joana Forjaz Pereira” is part of the “Artes em Itinerância” program and takes place on August 13, 14, 20 and 21, at 9:15 pm.

The 17th century met Joana Forjaz Pereira, 6th Countess of Feira, the first woman to receive this title. Supported by her mother, D. Maria de Gusmão, she faced His Majesty, King Filipe II of Portugal and was later imprisoned under the orders of Filipe IV of Spain. Widowed and with three children, she accomplished great things: a woman ahead of her time! It is this Woman and this moment in History that Decadas de Sonho will recreate in the Castle of Santa Maria da Feira.

The theater and historical recreation show “O Tempo da História: Joana Forjaz Pereira” is also part of the project Santa Maria da Feira – Lugar do Tempo, financed by Norte 2020, which, in broad terms, aims to promote the dynamization, promotion and development of cultural heritage.

Tickets for this historic recreation, with a symbolic value of €1.50, can be purchased HERE. The capacity of each session is limited to 100 places.

Until December, the municipal project of cultural decentralization Artes em Itinerância will cover 17 parishes in the municipality of Santa Maria da Feira, providing residents and visitors with 13 free cultural activities, fostering access and promoting new opportunities for cultural enjoyment in the territory.
