Resistência with new disco and spectacle in the Coliseum of Lisbon
The new Resistência album, “Ventos e Marés”, which included songs by GNR and Quinta do Bill, is released on Friday and, on the 26th, the band takes to the stage of the Coliseu dos Recreios in Lisbon.
In a note, the group claims that the album’s title “translates what you find when you go a long way” and is “a sure metaphor for a rich and extensive career, full of triumphs and, of course, some obstacles that were needed win with determination. ”
The CD opens with ‘Sete Naves’, an original of the GNR, and includes ‘If I Could Have a Day’, from the repertoire of the Dolphins, and ‘I Will Not Be Faithful’, of the Saints and Sinners, in a total of ten themes, with recreations of songs by Jorge Palma, Clã, and Xutos & Pontapés, among others.
Fernando Escudo (bass), Fernando Cunha (12-string guitar and voice), José Salgueiro (percussion), Mário Delgado (six string guitar), Miguel Ângelo (voice), Olavo Bilac (voice), Pedro Jóia (classical guitar) and Tim (voice and six string guitar).
On the album, the group affirms that it does “a tribute to the guitarist Dudas, a figure who has accompanied the Resistance’s path for more than two decades and who retired from the stage in 2015, and the other clear” Ventos e Mares ” to Pedro Ayres Magalhães, founding member of this project and author of many emblematic songs that continue to inspire these resisters.
Jorge Palma’s “A Gente Vai Continuar” is another of the themes that are part of the album’s line-up and that the collective will play in the Lisbon coliseum, alongside themes that the group recorded on previous albums such as “Não Sou o Único” , ‘Born Wild’, ‘The Night’ or ‘Tomorrow is Always Far Too Much’.
The Resistência debuted discographically in 1991 with ‘Palabras ao Vento’, followed in 1992 by the album ‘Mano a Mano’, and the following year ‘Ao Vivo em Armazém 22’, an album that marks the first cycle of this acoustic project.
In 2014 the Resistência revisited the repertoires of bands and national performers with ‘Horizonte’, followed in 2016 by ‘Ao Vivo em Lisboa’.
