Revolution Hope Imagination (RHI) is an initiative that aims to create a dialogue between Art and Business, Culture and Tourism and bring this discussion to Portugal through a week of talks, workshops and shows throughout the country, bringing together curators, cultural programmers, and artists from all over the world. The project will continue to be active through an online platform that will guarantee the sustainability of the initiative’s objectives, creating national networks and, at the same time, opening doors for the internationalization of Portuguese artists.
This global dialogue will take place in Portugal between September 14 and 21, 2019 and will pass through Lisbon, Torres Vedras, Caldas da Rainha, Óbidos, Guimarães, Leiria, Alcobaça, Évora, Vidigueira, Loulé, and Funchal. Through the platform – which has just been launched and can be seen on www.rhi-think.com – it will be possible, after September, to make the booking of Portuguese shows and will allow tourist agents to do the same for their customers coming to Portugal.
The initiative is part of Ana Ventura Miranda, the date when they mark eight years of the Art Institute, a project that created to promote the culture and art of Portugal in New York. “With Arte Institute, we have created the global networks we have today to reach out to these programmers and curators, school networks and organizations worldwide to create the educational program and network, and then internationalize the projects we will select from the call for artists, by RHI, “says Ana Ventura Miranda. “But above all, we have learned in these eight years that it is possible to do much when there is a will and that civil society can and should have a voice in the construction of the country. This is undoubtedly one of the premises of RHI, “says the project’s mentor.
The curators and programmers of RHI have recognized names of the arts in Portugal as José Luís Peixoto, Afonso Cruz, John Gonçalves, Ivo Canelas, Marta de Menezes, Paula Abreu, Pedro Varela, and Nuno Bernardo, among others.
From April 12 to May 12, the call for artists will be held, during which time artists can send the proposals for shows that will be selected and integrated into the RHI events. After the events of September, the shows become part of the RHI platform in which any producer from anywhere in the world will have access, so you can know the work of our national artists. Applications are open on the Arte Institute website (www.arteinstitute.org) or on the RHI platform (www.rhi-think.com).
There are also news for the public. Starting today, April 12, it is possible to become an RHI member by enrolling in the platform and staying with an annual membership that offers discounts on RHI events for 12 months. Becoming a member right away, it’s about € 20 a day for all talks and other unique opportunities, such as being able to buy passes for the initiative, in September, 48 hours before the general public. You can see more information at www.rhi-think.com in the membership menu.
