Ricardo Melo Gouveia wins first podium of the season at the Dormy Open

The Portuguese professional, who holds three Challenge Tour titles, achieved between 2014 and 2015, ended his participation in the Dormy Open with a total of 274 strokes (70+66+71+67), 14 below the field Par, and was isolated in third position, just one shot away from discussing the play-off with Swede Björn Hellgren and Frenchman Félix Mory, who would later win the trophy on the second tiebreaker hole.

Melo Gouveia had gone on to the final round of fourth place on the leaderboard, tied with Finnish Roope Kakko, Frenchman Jérôme Lando Casanova and Swedishman Marcus Svensson, but managed to take off from the competition with a final 67 strokes (-5), following seven birdies on holes 5, 8, 9, 13, 15, 17 and 18 and two bogeys on 3 and 14.

In addition to passing the cut at a Challenge Tour event, for the first time this season, the 29-year-old professional from Lisbon should rise to 20th place in the Race to Majorca, thanks to the third position achieved in the race, endowed with 200 thousand euros in monetary prizes.
