Rio Ave beat Besiktas on the penalties

Rio Ave qualified for the Europa League ‘play off’, after beating Besiktas in Istanbul 4-2 on penalties.

Besiktas started winning just after the first quarter of an hour, with a goal from Guven Yalcin. Five minutes before the final whistle, Bruno Moreira restored equality, taking the game to extra time.

In the additional half hour the result lasted on the scoreboard and everything was decided on penalties. Wellinton and Larin wasted on Besiktas, while the Portuguese team scored all of their shots.

Rio Ave is now scheduled to meet Milan in a match scheduled for 1 October.
