Roberto Carlos needs no introduction. He began his musical career in the 50s with the musical projects The Sputnik’s (where Tim Maia was also, for example) and The Snakes (where he finds his “partner” author of songs, Erasmo Carlos). Their first great success came with the 1963 album, Splish Splash which took him to act in several radio stations and television, presenting the new star of Brazilian music to the world.

Roberto Carlos

With each single and album contributing to the growing success in his native country, the first step in the internationalization of Roberto Carlos took place in 1967 when it was part of the lineup of the musical fair MIDEM (Cannes), playing the following year at the San Remo Festival (Italy).

At this same time, a new musical chapter begins in the career of the singer and composer, where songs with romantic content gain space in the singles and edited albums. Com temas como “Detalhes” (1971), “Proposta” (1973), “Seu Corpo” (1975), “Cavalgada” (1977), “Café da Manhã” (1978), ou “Desabafo” (1979) é alcançada a marca de mais de um milhão de vendas.

It was in 1974 that a collaboration began that lasts until today: a special year-end program that in 2024 will celebrate 50 years of existence. Other milestones in Roberto Carlos’ career were in 1997 when he met Pope John Paul II in Rio de Janeiro and sang for more than 2 million people; the following year, his duet with tenor Luciano Pavarotti; in 2000 the recording of Acústico MTV; in 2005 the trip along the coast of Brazil called Emotions in High Sea where invited friends, artists, fans and press for a series of intimate concerts with special alignments. Even before the 90s, the “Emoções” tour went through 18 cities in 14 states of Brazil and had a team of 110 professionals. It is a milestone in the history of Brazilian music.

In September and October this year, Roberto Carlos celebrates his career with four remarkable and unmissable concerts in Portugal.
