Rochele Nunes wins silver at Tbilisi
Grand Slam of Tblilissi
The Portuguese judoka won the silver medal in the Grand Slam de Tbilisi.
Rochele Nunes, the last participant of the Portuguese delegation in the Grand Slam of Tbilisi, ended with winning the silver medal in the category of +78 kg, lost in the final to the Chinese Shiyan Xu, by ‘ippon‘.
The Benfica judoka who is 12th in the Olympic ‘ranking’ and ninth in the direct qualification for the Tokyo2020 Olympic Games, before Shiyan Xu, 33rd, who had already won in the Grand Slam of Brasília in 2019, was never able to dominate during the fight.
Rochele Nunes, was at a disadvantage, with a ‘waza-ari‘ at 2 minutes, with Xu three seconds from the end defeating the Portuguese by ‘ippon‘.
