Rock in Rio brings together Santos and Euro for a super party

  • The special 20th-anniversary edition of Rock in Rio Lisboa begins on the 15th of June, during the week of Santo António, and only ends on the 23rd of June, on the night of São João;
  • To celebrate the arrival of Rock in Rio in Portugal 20 years ago, the festival joins the city’s festivities to offer a special prize to the winning march and the bride and groom of Santo António;
  • On June 22nd, we will all cheer for Portugal at Parque Tejo-Lisbon, on a Rock in Rio day dedicated to the celebration of music and football, with the Portugal-Turkey game being broadcast in the new City of Rock;
  • Remember that Rock in Rio Lisboa 2024 will take place on the 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd of June 2024 and will feature 12 hours of daily and memorable parties, in a new City of Rock and in a new location – Parque Tejo -Lisbon.

June promises to be an unforgettable month in Lisbon, full of celebrations and exciting events. 2024 marks 20 years of Rock in Rio Lisbon – the first city chosen as the festival’s international destination – and to celebrate this historic milestone, Rock in Rio joined the Festas de Lisboa, in partnership with EGEAC, and will offer special prizes.

Known for its festive atmosphere and impact on culture and entertainment, Rock in Rio Lisboa will reward the winning march of the Festas de Lisboa with tickets to the festival.

This collaboration marks a joint celebration of Rock in Rio and Santos Populares in the middle of European football month, reinforcing the connection between the festival and the city of Lisbon. The announcement was made by Roberta Medina, Executive Vice-President of Rock in Rio, on May 21st, during the EGEAC Press Conference for the Presentation of the Lisbon 2024 Festivities, which was attended by Carlos Moedas, President of the Chamber Municipal Council of Lisbon and Pedro Moreira, President of EGEAC. Roberta Medina announced the award in the company of one of the artists performing at the festival, Carolina de Deus, one of the most relevant singer/songwriters of the new generation of national music. Carolina de Deus also participated in the presentation of the parties, performing one of the themes that she will take to Rock in Rio on June 16th.

Let the Parties begin – Rock in Rio, Santos Populares and Football!

In 2024, not only will Rock in Rio’s arrival in Lisbon be celebrated 20 years ago, but also its first internationalization. In honour of this special occasion, the winning march of the Festas de Lisboa will receive tickets for the festival, specifically for the 22nd of June, the day on which Portugal will be celebrated with the broadcast of the game against Turkey, in the new venue, in Parque Tejo-Lisbon.

June 22nd will be a day to celebrate the 10th edition of the festival with lots of party and music, performed by artists such as Ivete Sangalo, James, Ornatos Violeta, Macklemore, Carolina Deslandes, Dilsinho, Fonzie, Kura and the headliners Jonas Brothers, who operate for the first time in Portugal. This is a day designed for all tastes and for the whole family to sing and dance from start to finish until the dust kicks up, and which we hope will be filled with many goals for our team!

Furthermore, the 16 couples from Santo António, who traditionally get married during the Lisbon Festivities, will also be rewarded with tickets to the festival. These couples are also invited to visit the Somersby Cupido House, built in the new Rock in Rio venue, within Route 85, which tells the story of the festival since its first edition in 1985, and will allow other couples to be inspired and Make your vows of love in a ceremony celebrated by Elvis Presley and Amy Winehouse lookalikes.

Remember that the 10th edition of Rock in Rio Lisboa is scheduled for the 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd of June 2024, in a new Rock City, in Parque Tejo Lisboa, where the public will be transported to a unique and memorable, full of surprises, animation, party, lots of music and quality entertainment.

Created in 1985 in Rio de Janeiro, it is an important part of the history of world music. The event has already had 22 editions, 130 days and more than 3,816 musical attractions. In 2024, the festival is back on the 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd of June for a special edition that celebrates 20 years of Rock in Rio Lisboa, with great news including a new location – in Parque Tejo Lisboa. The new Cidade do Rock will feature a new stage, a new Route 85 and a new space that will celebrate 20 years of “For a Better World”, in addition to the already known Palco Mundo, Palco Galp, Rock Street, Super Bock Digital Stage, Chef’s Garden, ESC Online Sports Bar, Ferris Wheel Pisca Pisca, Slide Pepsi, VIP Area Gato Preto, among others.
