Rock in Rio Lisboa will dedicate more than three thousand square meters of Parque da Bela Vista to a new space with families in mind – a City of Rock where everything turns into a small spot, but where the magic is even greater. Rock in Rio Kids is, therefore, the new “land” that rises within the festival grounds, dedicated to children between 3 and 10 years old and that aims to complement the experience of families in Rock in Rio, providing moments of sharing and creating memories.

In this new space, the magic of smile is present in every corner and every corner. Between 12 pm and 9 pm, there will be music, dance, magic, workshops – of illustration, short story, science, among so many others -, street performances, family games, radical activities and a menu full of animations for young and old to participate. together, or alone. In total there are 11 activity spaces, among which stand out a Small Stage World, a Backstage experience, a mini Rock Street “dressed” in music, Pool Parties in a ball pool version, a mini slide and a mini wheel giant.

At the mini Palco Mundo, the poster will not be that “mini”. Every day there will be space for Just Dance moments, dance performances with well-known choreographies of the youngest, an unprecedented presentation by the athletes of the “Ginásio Clube Português“, video moments This is not a Talent Contest, a circus show designed exclusively for Rock in Rio Kids, concerts by the Orquestra dos Brinquedos de Lisboa and also a magical firework display, only seen in an augmented reality.

These are the memories that accompany us throughout life, especially those we created as a child, promoted by family moments. These are the moments we want to provide at Rock in Rio Kids, an entertainment space for parents, children, grandparents to share experiences that we want to become unforgettable ”explains Roberta Medina, Executive Vice President of Rock in Rio.

Another big news that comes with this Rock in Rio Kids is the Family Passport. As of today, in addition to the daily tickets and weekend passes available at the usual locations, on the Rock in Rio website and at selected Galp filling stations, families will have a new offer with special benefits. For 142 € (the value of two daily tickets + 4 €), the Family Pass includes the entry of two adults and two children (aged between 3 and 10 years old). For the comfort of families, this passport also includes access to the City of Rock through an exclusive entrance and the possibility for adults to be able to leave the premises, to leave the children, and to re-enter.

We want to ensure that Portuguese families have the opportunity here to create moments and memories with theirs. One of the factors that led us to associate our energy and mobility with Rock in Rio was the huge diversity of audiences that this festival brings together and the unique ability that this event has to bring together families, parents and children, who come to have fun together. ”, Says Galp’s Marketing and Communication Director, Joana Garoupa.

A mini and magical Rock City

mini WORLD STAGE
With a diversified program and specially designed for the youngest, this mini stage receives great presentations. This is the case of the show “Let’s Rock” that “Ginásio Clube Português” takes to Rock in Rio Kids. Twice a day, GCP athletes take the stage for a gymnastic presentation, which combines acrobatic movements, costumes and characterizations, in an immersive show in which everything is thought out in detail. On this stage, you cannot miss the dance, led by Jazzy Dance Studios, with Just Dance moments throughout the day and moments of recreation of famous choreographies from the music industry and from the children’s imagination.

And because Rock in Rio is also made of music, the mini World Stage will anticipate the great concerts that, over the four days, will pass through the World Stage. The “Orquestra dos Brinquedos de Lisboa“, an eccentric cluster of twenty musicians that use alternative materials for musical practice, will take the mini stage to present a show composed of classical music, combined with reinterpretations of themes by artists that can be heard on the World Stage.

It is to the sound of this same “Orquestra dos Brinquedos de Lisboa” that the Rock in Rio anthem will be heard once a day, at the end of the mini-stage, to accompany the firework display in augmented reality. Through mobile devices, it will be possible to watch and participate in this explosion of colours and magic in the sky, with the particularity of each smartphone being able to fire its own rockets.

And because family moments are in the DNA of this space, Rock in Rio will challenge families in “This is not a Talent Contest”. Over the next few months, Portuguese families will be challenged to record their playful moments which, on the 20th, 21st, 27th and 28th of June will be displayed on the LED walls of the mini Palco Mundo.

mini BACKSTAGE
This is where the younger ones, and the older ones if they want, can feel like real rock stars and pop divas. The experience starts right at the entrance, with the personalization of an artist credential, which will allow access to the dressing room. Here there will be a zone of facial paintings and a hairdresser, ending with a photo session.

WALL OF FAMily
The wall of fame, in which several national and international artists have left the mold of their hands, is already one of the legacies of Rock in Rio. In Rock in Rio Kids this “Wall of fame” puts the family in front of the spotlight and will be visitors to this space who will be able to leave their handprints in ink and the family name to remember later.

mini POOL PARTIES
Who does not know the Somersby Pool Parties of Galp Music Valley? At Rock in Rio Kids, the pool will be made of coloured balls and the party will be guaranteed! There will be buoys, DJs, entertainers dressed as lifeguards, in a space full of colour, where the main ingredient will not be missing: FUN!

mini ROCK STREET
The street that promises to be one of the most photographed spaces of the entire festival. Scenographic houses, inspired by some of the most iconic artists in the music world: Rihanna’s diamond, David Bowie’s “face”, the image of Iron Maiden’s Powerslave (1984) album, the iconic language of The Rolling Stones, the known “Yellow Submarine” by The Beatles and “Telephone” (2010) by Lady Gaga.

It is inside these houses that, between 12:00 and 9:00 pm, several workshops will be held for the youngest. Lisbon Libraries will carry out activities of illustration, narration and reuse of materials, as well as other moments about the book and reading, providing a dynamic of learning and fun. The program will include toy construction workshops and other objects with reused materials; illustration workshop with illustrator Ana Sofia Gonçalves and illustrator João Rodrigues; and role-playing games/narrative games. Between 9 pm and midnight, listening to stories will be music to the children’s ears. These workshops will give way to storytelling hours, every day with different stories.

The Portuguese Science4you will also invade the mini Rock Street with two experiments that will leave the youngsters on their toes: slime workshop, one of the children’s favourite activities, in which small scientists can give wings to their creativity, making various types of slime; and a GREEN SCIENCE ECO experience, named Best Toy in the World at the Nuremberg Fair. With this activity, Science4you wants to encourage children to look at the world in a more “green” way, creating sustainable experiences.

The Lisbon Oceanarium promises to make the ocean the main star of the mini City of Rock. In this workshop, Oceanário intends to sensitize children and families to make responsible decisions, to have a positive impact on the planet and to mobilize themselves to act for a better world, through various educational and playful activities.
Another activity that complements the mini Rock Street programming is Upcycling by Lanidor Kids, a workshop that aims to transform old or damaged stock into creative pieces, made to measure and ready to be used again. The idea is the creative reuse of what would become textile waste by children.

And because “family” is the watchword at Rock in Rio Kids, the Family Tree could not be missing. Inspired by the famous wish trees, so common on the Asian continent, families will be able to hang personalized houses on this tree (with cardboard, paints, glitter, among other materials), with a message about their family, reinforcing the importance of family ties.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES & STREET ANIMATIONS
In addition to the mini World Stage, mini Backstage and mini Rock Street, Rock in Rio Kids will feature a mini slide, mini Ferris wheel and a climbing wall, as well as a tree-climbing circuit made up of eleven obstacles. In addition to these diversions and unique moments, several street performances are added, namely magicians, jugglers, cashier, characters and mascots, all in a “painted” space with small great scenographic details that make Rock in Rio Kids even more colourful and Special.

The ninth edition of Rock in Rio Lisboa is back at Parque da Bela Vista on June 20, 21, 27 and 28. The most magical edition ever will feature a luxury soundtrack composed of names like Foo Fighters, The National, Liam Gallagher, Post Malone, Camila Cabello, Anitta, Black Eyed Peas, among others. There are more than 14 attractions available, such as the recently announced Galp Music Valley – the non-stop stage of the City of Rock that this year receives big names in international music such as Incubus and Ney Matogrosso, rising artists like Giulia Be, Bárbara Tinoco and Iza, and renowned national names such as Delfins, The Black Mamba, Mundo Segundo & Sam The Kid, among other artists throughout the four days of the festival.
