Rock in Rio Lisboa reveals world stage line-up for June 15th

and announces sale of the Rock in Rio 20th Anniversary Special Edition pack

After the excitement of the announcement of the line-up that will set Palco Mundo on fire on June 16, 2024, Rock in Rio Lisboa now reveals the names that will provide music on the first day of this 20th-anniversary edition.

Scorpions, Evanescence, Extreme and Xutos & Pontapés with the Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra, with a concert specially created to celebrate 20 years of Rock in Rio, take to the Palco Mundo da Cidade do Rock, on the 15th of June, for an epic day, with performances by artists that defined generations, 12 hours of music and an interactive light and fireworks show.

With five decades of an extraordinary career, the Scorpions have a unique history with Rock in Rio, since the first edition in Rio de Janeiro in 1985. It was there that Roberto Medina offered a guitar to the “Wind of Change” band on stage. an action that became one of the most applauded moments of the festival; until their epic return in 2019, where the Scorpions played again with the same guitar. In 2024, the German rock masters are preparing for another exciting chapter of their journey on the Palco Mundo do Rock in Rio Lisboa. A connection that spans decades, marked by unforgettable performances and a special relationship with the public, promises to once again liven up the City of Rock with its unique energy. A celebration of the past and present, which echoes the longevity and timelessness of this legendary band.

Evanescence was present at the first edition of Rock in Rio Lisboa, in 2004, and returned in 2012. Two concerts, which provided unforgettable moments for the Portuguese public, intertwining emblematic hits such as “Bring Me to Life”, “My Immortal” and “Going Under” with a captivating stage presence. With a career marked by a unique fusion of alternative rock and symphonic elements, the band led by the charismatic Amy Lee has built a musical legacy that transcends generations. In 2024, Evanescence promises to once again enchant the Rock in Rio Lisboa audience with their engaging musicality and hits that echo in the memories of all their fans.

After the announcement of the release of Extreme’s new album, the big news now comes that guitarist Nuno Bettencourt and his band will perform at Rock in Rio Lisboa. Forever associated with the anthem “More than Words”, which made the band world famous in 1990 with the debut album of the same name, continuing to this day to cross borders and generations, Extreme once again attracted attention after the song “Play with Me” had was included in the soundtrack for the fourth season of the series “Stranger Things”. Back in Portugal to perform at the Palco Mundo do Rock in Rio Lisboa on June 15th, at a time that coincides with the release of the long-awaited album “Six”, Extreme will show that they are as in love as on the first day.

Xutos & Pontapés, true rock icons in Portugal, have prepared a special concert for 2024 with the Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Osvaldo Ferreira, designed especially to celebrate 20 years of Rock in Rio Lisboa. With over 70 musicians on stage, this collaboration promises to elevate the musical experience to new heights, offering fans a unique and exciting celebration. Xutos have been present at all editions of Rock in Rio Lisboa, consolidating themselves as an integral part of the festival’s two-decade history. They even went to Rock in Rio in Brazil, in 2011, where they performed with Titãs, giving rise to this partnership, where an absolute harmony between the two bands was felt, giving rise to a DVD.

“In the best Rock in Rio style, we are building a line-up that represents all generations, starting with the top of the 90s to the best of international and national pop. The World Stage for the first weekend has already been revealed and we are preparing a truly unique and memorable musical experience to celebrate the festival’s two decades in Portugal”, comments Roberta Medina, Executive Vice-President of Rock in Rio. “The diversity of styles and artistic quality will mark both days, providing fans with unique experiences, lots of music and partying 12 hours a day non-stop. The already announced line-up is just a taste of what’s to come, and we can’t wait to share more exciting details soon.”

Rock in Rio Special Edition Pack available from November 30th
In addition to this exciting confirmation, Rock in Rio Lisboa also announces the launch of the Rock in Rio 20 Years Special Edition Pack, available exclusively in more than 130 Worten stores and on worten.pt from November 30th. This special pack, ideal for giving this Christmas, includes a voucher to exchange for a daily ticket of your choice (15, 16, 22 or 23 June) and a Rock in Rio t-shirt, available in three unique models, linked to the campaign “All in Rio”, being possible to choose between one of the emblematic words: “Love”, “Joy” or “All”, limited to existing stock.

With an irresistible price of €84, this pack offers fans the opportunity to secure a ticket to the festival, as well as an exclusive piece of merchandising. The voucher must be exchanged for the daily ticket between January 16th and March 26th, after which it will be subject to availability on each day. The exchange must be made at any of the Worten stores, the list of which can be consulted at rockinriolisboa.pt, even if the purchase was made online. This exchange is mandatory, as the voucher is not valid for entry to the venue and cannot be exchanged at the venue, but only at Worten stores, providing fans with a hassle-free experience.

In 2024, the festival is back on the 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd of June for a special edition that celebrates 20 years of Rock in Rio Lisboa, with great news including a new location – in Parque Tejo Lisboa. The new City of Rock will feature a new stage, a new Route 85 and a new space that will celebrate 20 years of “For a Better World”, in addition to the already-known Palco Mundo, Galp Music Valley, Rock Street, Super Bock Digital Stage, Chef’s Garden, ESC Online Sports Bar, Pisca Pisca Ferris wheel, Pepsi Slide, Gato Preto VIP Area, among others.
