According to the honors, ‘Surdina’ was also distinguished with the prize for best original soundtrack, composed by guitarist Tó Trips, and with the prize for best photography, signed by Jorge Quintela.
The 32nd Girona International Film Festival, which ended today, had no screenings due to the covid-19, but all the films on the program were seen by the jury, which awarded the prizes.
“Surdina”, which premiered in July in Portuguese cinemas, is the most recent fiction by producer and director Rodrigo Areias, and has the argument of writer Valter Hugo Mãe.
The film was shot in the historic center of Guimarães and in São Cristóvão de Selho, in the municipality of Guimarães, places with family contact points for Rodrigo Areias and Valter Hugo Mãe.
The story is carried out by the actor António Durães, in the role of Isaque, a lonely man who tries to deal with the passage of time, with old age and with the comments, muted, from friends and neighbors, about the return to the woman’s village of him, who all thought he had died.
In addition to António Durães, the film features, among others, Ana Bustorff, Adelaide Teixeira, Jorge Mota, Fernando Moreira and Mário Moutinho.
At the end of October, Adelaide Teixeira and António Durães were distinguished with the interpretation awards of the Liverpool Film Festival, in the United Kingdom.
