The faces and stories of 40 people who, year after year, inside and outside, give body and life to the Pilgrimage of Senhora da d’Agonia will be highlighted at the 2021 party, which kicks off Thursday, in Viana do Castelo, with some moments with the audience.
They are testimonies of those who make the most emblematic paintings of the Pilgrimage, which will not take place in 2021 due to the sanitary rules still in force, told in a genuine way in unpublished videos produced over the last few months by the Festas Committee.
“Each one telling their experience and the importance that the party has, individually. They are people who organize, who participate, participate or simply watch, who tell us about their experience, but above all their feelings. There are people who only came to the Pilgrimage once and it was such a remarkable way that they follow it every year on the Internet”, explains António Cruz, president of the Festas Committee.
Over the years, Romaria d’Agonia has shown different perspectives on the parties, such as the preparation of the paintings, the story behind each and now the feeling of those who make, participate or live. A way to take the Pilgrimage and its traditional moments to those who are further away.
These testimonies are part of the videos and multimedia content of each of the emblematic tables to be disseminated on social networks, although they will not take place live this year, as in 2020, due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic.
The Romaria d’Agonia will take place this year from August 19th to 22nd, with a program that includes only ‘online’ moments and some with audiences, namely the Eucharist, the Costume Festival or the concerts in Canário e’Amigos, dos Sons do Minho, from the Popular Orquestra Sopro de Cordas de Outeiro and also the Folklore Festival, following the rules in force defined by the General Directorate of Health. to pick up a ticket, to be made available on the same day.
