July 18, 19 and 20, 2024
Herdade do Cabeço da Flauta, Meco – Sesimbra
With the new year almost upon us, it’s the right time to start preparing the musical agenda for 2024. And there are three days that any music lover wants to mark on the calendar: July 18th, 19th and 20th, at Meco, for the 28th edition of Super Bock Super Rock. After Måneskin’s confirmation, there is one more name that promises to set the Super Bock Stage on fire, on July 18th: the British Royal Blood.
The exclusive FNAC Super Bock Super Rock Fan Pack will be on sale starting tomorrow, in FNAC stores and on fnac.pt. In limited quantity and with an unrepeatable price of €119, it includes a pass for the 3 days of the Festival with camping, an exclusive tote bag and 20 prize-winning packs, 10 with double access to the VIP area and 10 with double access to the Golden Circle. The perfect Christmas gift for authentic music lovers.
From the beginning, the story of Royal Blood is above all a story of friendship. This is how it all started between Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher. The same passion for rock brought them together and led them through this extraordinary adventure. The goal has always been to make music for themselves, without great pretensions, without letting themselves be guided by the outside, driven by the love of music and that is still the spirit of the band: confidence, independence and the certainty that they do what they believe in. Before their success with Royal Blood, Mike and Ben had already been playing in bands together for a few years, often in inglorious circumstances, but it was these same two boys who conquered Glastonbury and won the BRIT Award for Best British Group. Reconnaissance was slow to arrive, but there was a great advantage to this delay: when that recognition arrived, they were more prepared than ever. After the success of the albums “Royal Blood” (2014) and “How Did We Get So Dark?” (2017), the band released “Typhoons” in 2021. This record once again conquered the top charts and paved the way for the band to return to the stage at some of the biggest international festivals. Royal Blood’s river of creativity didn’t stop flowing, as the single “Honeybrains” proves, but there was still no structured plan for what would come after “Typhoons”. In recent years they have cultivated the freedom to embrace other ideas. They let themselves be guided by melodies instead of riffs and rhythms and did not close the door to other instrumentation solutions that would better serve each of the songs. Basically, they returned to an old and central belief for the duo: Royal Blood’s sound is not defined by a genre or the instruments they play but by a unique chemistry forged by two friends who love playing together. Therefore, “Back To The Water Below” brings many surprises, without ever compromising the essence of the band. “Shiner In The Dark”, “The Firing Line”, and “Pull Me Through” are some of the new songs that prove the band’s vitality and versatility, and which promise to win over the Super Bock Super Rock audience. One thing is certain for now: there will be no shortage of rock & roll on the Super Bock Stage, on July 18th.
