Rubel and Marina Sena present the single “Carta de Maria,” a track written and produced by Rubel along with Gabriel Duarte, musical director of Marina’s latest album. The song marks a rare intersection of MPB and Pop and comes just months before Rubel’s return to Portugal, which takes place on November 18, 20, and 23.
This new single stems from the desire to create a sonic universe that unites the two artists’ most recent works: “Beleza. Mas agora a gente faz o que com isso?”, by Rubel, and “Coisas Naturais” (Natural Things). To achieve this, several excerpts from both albums were used, resulting in a musical fusion that uniquely blends MPB and Pop.

The lyrics of “Carta de Maria” tell the story of a couple who experience love in different ways: he seeks structure and comfort, while she desires freedom and adventure. The female character is presented as a free and perceptive woman who resists the traps of comfort and refuses to numb the soul. It was precisely this identification on Marina’s part with the narrative that led to this duet between Rubel and Marina Sena.
The release’s visual identity reinforces the song’s universe: the cover of “Carta de Maria,” by Marina Zabenzi, translates the lyrics’ emotion into images and captures the ambiguity of the relationship between the two characters, becoming the perfect visual representation of this artistic encounter.

“Carta de Maria” is now available on all digital platforms and YouTube.
In November, Rubel returns to Portugal to present his latest show with three highly anticipated shows:
• November 18 – Braga, Theatro Circo
• November 20 – Lisbon, Centro Cultural de Belém (CCB)
• November 23 – Porto, Casa da Música
