Brazilian singer-songwriter Rubel returns to Lisbon to present his latest album ‘As Palavras Vol. 1 & 2’. The presentation concert will take place on the 23rd of September at Coliseu dos Recreios and tickets will go on sale on Thursday, the 16th.
Consolidated as one of the biggest names of the new generation of Brazilian musicians, Rubel navigates between MPB, folk, samba, hip hop, and indie pop, with his poetic and sensitive lyrics that address themes such as love, nostalgia, and reflections on life. Casas (2018) – the artist’s second album – was nominated for the Latin Grammy for Best Rock or Latin Music Album in 2018. The tour for this album saw Rubel tour countries such as the USA, Portugal, Uruguay, Argentina, and Spain.
‘The Words Vol. 1 & 2’ is Rubel’s third studio album and features appearances by Milton Nascimento, Gabriel do Borel, and Tim Bernardes, among many others. Rubel relied on dialogue with different figures in Brazilian music and its main exponents. The result is a simultaneously popular and experimental fusion of funk, forró, pagode, samba, hip hop, and MPB.
The disc is an attempt to register the feeling of living in Brazil during the last few years, simultaneously proposing a dialogue between tradition and modernity. Rubel has one foot in the past and the other in the future.
