Rubel reveals the new album today

the third of his discography, "As Palavras Vol. 1 & 2"

Rubel edited today the new album “As Palavras Vol. 1 & 2”, the third studio album by the Brazilian artist, which features guest appearances by Milton Nascimento, Gabriel do Borel, Liniker, Luedji Luna, BK, Bala Quero, Tim Bernardes, Xande de Pilares, Mestrinho, and MC Carol.

After having started his career in Folk with his first work (Pearl, 2013) and having ventured into mixing MPB and Hip Hop on his second album (Casas, 2018), Rubel takes a new step and sets off on a more Brazilian and more popular direction.

“As Palavras Vol. 1 & 2”, a 20-track double album, is an attempt to record the feeling of living in Brazil during the last few years. For this, the singer and composer relied on dialogue with different figures of Brazilian music and its main exponents, such as Milton Nascimento, and Tim Bernardes, among many others. The result is a simultaneously popular and experimental fusion of Funk, Forró, Pagode, Samba, Hip Hop, and MPB.

«’As Palavras’ started from an extensive research, which lasted four years, of immersion in Brazilian literature and the history of the Brazilian songbook», says Rubel. The result of the research is an expansion of the themes and rhythms worked on by Rubel until then. The lyrics not only address their autobiographical and personal experiences, but also their loves, dislikes, and discoveries.

The album proposes a dialogue between tradition and modernity. One foot in the past and one in the future. The twenty tracks are divided into two sides. Side 1 focuses on contemporary aesthetics and rhythms and, in turn, side 2 is a dialogue with the past and tradition. The sides appear as complementary halves, one solar and the other nocturnal, like day and night.
