Rui Bragança wins gold in the European Taekwondo Club Championship
The Benfica athlete won the competition by defeating the Moldovan Stepan Dmitrov 8-6 in the final, after eliminating the Israeli Ori Patishi, 30-10, in the semi-finals.
[dropcap]R[/dropcap]ui Bragança will try to ensure his second Olympic presence, after the ninth place in Rio2016, in the European qualifying tournament, which will be played on January 30 and 31, in Sofia.
Also in the European Club, Júlio Ferreira, from Sporting de Braga, only lost in the final of the -80 kg category, against the Belgian Nicholas Stefan, after having eliminated the Turkish Huseyin Kartal, in the quarter-finals, and the Czech David Simek, in the semi-finals.
On Tuesday, Joana Cunha, also from Sporting de Braga, secured the bronze medal, losing in the semi-finals against British Jade Jones, twice Olympic champion, after defeating the Spanish runner-up Marta Calvo.
