Rui Costa (UAE-Emirates) held the fourth place in the Tour of Oman by bike after the fourth stage, beaten by Italy’s Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain-Merida), 24 seconds behind Kazakhstan’s Alexey Lutsenko (Astana).
Colbrelli completed the 131 kilometres between Yiti and the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center at 3:17 p.m., the same time as Belgian Greg Van Avermaet (CCC), Frenchman Clément Venturini (AG2R) and South African Ryan Gibbons (Dimension Date), second, third and fourth classified, respectively.
Rui Costa was the 14th to cross the finish line, with the same time as the first, remaining in fourth place, 24 seconds from Lutsenko.
In the overall standings, Kazakh remain in the lead, now 14 seconds adrift of Van Avermaet, who moved up from third to second in exchange for Spaniard Jesús Herrada (Cofidis), still 18.
On Wednesday the peloton will face the 152 kilometres of the fifth stage, between Samayil and Al Jabal Al Akhdar, where the goal and a mountain prize count are set.
