Northern flavors during a gastronomic weekend at Solverde Hotels

XV “Gastronomic Weekends” Edition of Turismo do Porto e Norte de Portugal

In April and May, the Hotel Solverde Spa & Wellness Center and the Hotel Casino Chaves, respectively, will host the “Gastronomic Weekends”, an initiative by Turismo do Porto e Norte de Portugal, which aims to pay homage to the richness that The region has to offer to those who visit it.

Representing Vila Nova de Gaia, from the 5th to the 7th of April, the Hotel Solverde Spa & Wellness Center will prepare a menu composed of typically northern flavours, in a welcoming atmosphere and with a pleasant view of the sea. As a starter, a Cream with crunchy sausages and cubes of bread from Avintes will be served, the protagonist of the menu will be fried Shad with roe bread and, to finish the meal in a traditional and tasty way, a Pairing of Port Wine, chocolate and strawberries.

The Chaves unit, from the 3rd to the 5th of May, will have a menu in which cod is king. The starter will be contemporary Cod Velvety, for the main course will be served Cod with all Vale de Anta and for dessert Incógnita chocolate with salted caramel. In addition, there will be a “welcome” glass of wine from the region and a Chaves ham cover.

The Hotel Casino Chaves’ menu will be dedicated to cod, as it will be participating in a gastronomic competition as part of the 3rd Bacalhau de Chaves Gastronomic Festival, in which it was distinguished, in the previous edition, with an honourable mention. This competition rewards the best restaurants and chefs for their creations, promoting the originality and modernization of local cuisine, always giving priority to cod, as an excellent ingredient in traditional cuisine.

The “Gastronomic Weekends” are in their 15th edition and involve 74 municipalities, 932 restaurants, 654 tourist developments, more than 300 farms, wineries and wine tourism spaces. This will be a true “Festival of Senses”, where it will be possible to taste and approve the gastronomic and wine charms of the Porto Norte Region in an exceptional symbiosis of sensations.
