Samaná, Dominican Republic, movie destination

and setting for the new Bahia Principe and Soltour campaign

The Dominican Republic was the scene of major successful films and the campaign starring Hugo Silva, which both companies launch today, Wednesday, May 10th.

From July 6th until September 14th, Soltour will offer trips to the destination where the video was filmed: Samaná, from Portugal and Spain with direct flights every Friday and Thursday, respectively.

Soltour, the leading independent tour operator in Spain and Portugal, and Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts, the hotel division of Grupo Piñero, have joined forces to launch a campaign starring Hugo Silva. Companies specializing in the Caribbean have placed their trust in the popular actor who, under the direction of acclaimed director Daniel Sánchez-Arévalo, demonstrates the unique and exclusive experiences that can be discovered in Samaná, Dominican Republic.

The innovative campaign, which went online today, Wednesday, May 10, aims to show travelers a different side of this Dominican paradise.

Under the motto “Sometimes you have to go far to find what is close to you”, Soltour and Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts recognize Samaná as a “different Caribbean”, a diversified destination that goes beyond traditional sun tourism and beach. For both companies, Samaná is synonymous with authenticity, color, joy, adventure, and connection with its people and cultures. A place that has to be felt, that surprises and falls in love with.

The choice of location for filming the video was not by chance, as the Dominican Republic offers a privileged environment that has not gone unnoticed by the major production companies. Different parts of the country have appeared in blockbusters, setting the stage for the most heartwarming stories.

The Caribbean of Pirates is the Dominican Samaná

The Samaná Peninsula was chosen to film the popular “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl”. To enjoy this paradise of turquoise waters, varied cuisine, and unparalleled natural wealth, the Bahia Principe Grand Cayacoa is the ideal hotel. With some of the most spectacular views of Samaná, the traveler is immersed in a natural environment, surrounded by vegetation and with a wide range of activities, including the opportunity to feel at home in Bahia Principe Village, a typical Dominican village located next to the hotel.

Visit La Romana before the arrival of the “Apocalypse”

Directed by Francis Ford Coppola in 1979, some scenes of “Apocalypse Now” were filmed on the banks of the Chavón River, in the area of La Romana, the capital of the east of the Dominican Republic. In this incomparable setting, there is nothing like the Bahia Principe Grand La Romana to stay. A true tropical destination along the immaculate beach of Santa Ana, it invites you to relax in its beautiful bay, discover the local culture and enjoy one of the most exciting golf courses in the Caribbean.

Neither speed nor fury, here time and spirit are the opposite

The ninth film in the “Fast and Furious” saga chose Cap Cana, a luxurious area in the east of the Dominican Republic, next to popular Punta Cana, as the setting for the adventures of these intrepid drivers. Travelers who want to experience this wonderful destination first-hand can stay at one of the seven resorts managed by Grupo Piñero’s hotel division in the area, such as Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar, Bahia Principe Grand Aquamarine, for adults only, or Bahia Principe Grand Turquesa and Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro, for the whole family.

From July 6th to September 14th, Soltour will offer trips to Samaná from Portugal and Spain, departing every Friday and Thursday, respectively. In turn, Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts have a portfolio of hotels designed to accommodate all travelers interested in rediscovering this paradise of great natural wealth, cuisine, and varied culture.
