Sandra Bastos to be the first Portuguese referee in a World Cup
Sandra Bastos became the first Portuguese referee to be nominated for a Women’s World Cup, as she joined the roster set for the final in France between June 7 and July 7, 2019.
The FIFA arbitration committee announced today the 27 chosen referees and 48 assistants from 42 countries, nine of them from Europe.
Sandra Bastos, 40, has been a referee since 2001 and international since 2004, belongs to the staff of the Aveiro Football Association, having been in two editions of the U-17 World Cup and the U19 European Championship.
The final phase of the 2019 World Cup will be played in the French cities of Grenoble, Le Havre, Lyon, Montpellier, Nice, Paris, Reims, Rennes, and Valenciennes, starting on June 7 and the final scheduled for July 7 in Lyon.
