In 2020, one of the most challenging years of our lives, the Santa Casa Alfama Festival showed how it is possible to continue to feed the soul of Culture, even in times of pandemic.
In recognition of this work, he was selected, among hundreds of Portuguese brands, for the Marketeer 2021 Awards in the Music and Entertainment Event of the Year category. And, of course, the Festival returns to Alfama this year from 2021 for more an absolutely unmissable edition, made with all the security required, complying with all the rules and guidelines of the Directorate-General for Health in force at the date of the Festival.
On the 24th and 25th of September the streets of Alfama once again receive what is the great Portuguese Festival of Fado.
After an edition dedicated to Amália Rodrigues, in the centennial year of the diva, Santa Casa Alfama is preparing, as it should be, to honor another great name of Fado and Portuguese music: Carlos do Carmo. The year 2021 began with the sad news of the disappearance of someone whose voice is confused with the last fifty years of the country’s own history.
The man who gave us “Canoas do Tejo”, “Lisboa, Menina e Moça”, “O Homem das Castanhas”, “O Amarelo da Carris”, among so many other timeless successes, will be honored in the city he sang like no one else, in your Lisbon. In this edition dedicated to Carlos do Carmo, many surprises are expected to be revealed in due course. One of these moments will be the great tribute concert, starring voices that are heirs to the Fadista’s immense legacy and that will be announced very soon.
In addition to the tributes to Carlos do Carmo, there is a poster filled with great voices distributed by the different stages, as always installed in the Alfama neighborhood. Three of these voices prove the vitality of our music: Camané, Sara Correia, and Miguel Moura are the first confirmed voices for Palco Santa Casa.
