Santa Casa Alfama releases first confirmations

The biggest Fado festival in the world returns in September for two more days of celebrating our music.

On the 23rd and 24th of September, Alfama will once again be filled with fado for a Festival that has already won the hearts of the public. The various stages of Santa Casa Alfama are spread across the neighborhood, creating the feeling that fado can happen anywhere and that any alley, alley or square is capable of becoming a fado house.

More than a music festival, this event becomes an experience in which the public is invited to touch the Portuguese soul, wandering through a neighborhood full of stories of the fado people. With a careful and demanding musical selection, giving space to renowned voices and also to those who guarantee the future of our music, Santa Casa Alfama is today one of the most relevant events in Portuguese cultural life.

And the first confirmations for this year’s edition of the festival guarantee the quality to which we have become accustomed: on the 23rd of September, Palco Santa Casa receives the great concert of Homage to Max by António Zambujo and Guests and on the 24th of September the same stage receives the powerful voice of Dulce Pontes with guest Ricardo Ribeiro.

The Santa Casa Alfama Festival stands out for the space it gives to the new voices of fado, ending up being a compass for those who want to be aware of what the future will bring to our music.

As it could not be otherwise, this is also a Festival with memory, concerned with remembering and honoring some of the names that built the history of fado. After two great tributes, first to Amália Rodrigues in 2020, in the year of her centenary, and then to Carlos do Carmo in 2021, the year of her disappearance, in 2022 the Santa Casa Alfama Festival will honor the unmistakable Max.
