Santa Maria da Feira cancels 24th edition of Medieval Journey

The decision results mainly from legal impediments resulting from the restrictive state in force until May 2, since, of the exceptional and temporary measures adopted by the Government in the fight against the covid-19, there is the non-holding of mass events until the 90 .Th business day after the end of the state of emergency.

At stake is the event in the district of Aveiro which, were it not for the restrictions imposed by the covid-19 pandemic, this year it would take place from 29 July to 9 August, involving the daily work of around 2,000 people in the animation of a an area of 34 hectares, ranging from urban areas to forests, lakes, churches, a river, a farm with artificial caves and the Castelo da Feira itself.

Canceled the edition that would be dedicated to the Battle of Aljubarrota, the three entities that organize the event anticipate unique experiences for the next recreation.

At that time, the Medieval Journey of the Fair will complete 25 years of existence, so the municipality already promises an intense stage of moments in the History of Portugal, under the theme ‘From County to Kingdom – The Afonsina Dynasty in Three Centuries of History(s)’.
