Santarém municipality supports the Tour of Portugal by Cadet Bicycle (U-17) and welcomes its arrival on August 1st The Municipal Executive granted a financial contribution in the amount of 4,500€ to the União Velocipédica Portuguesa – Portuguese Cycling Federation for the organization of the thirteenth edition of the Volta a Portugal in Cadet Bike Tour. This sporting event is the reference race for the national youth squad, bringing together runners between 14 and 16 years old. The 2021 edition started on June 30th and ends in the city of Santarém on August 1st. The Municipality highlighted the important importance of the event, in this particular year in which cyclist Maria Martins, resident in the Scalabitan parish of Moçarria, participates in the Tokyo Olympic Games, constituting a model and a reference for young people, for her hard work and sporting persistence to achieve such high results.
