The 2019 Financial Yearbook for Portuguese Municipalities places São Brás de Alportel in the Top 100 of the most financially efficient municipalities nationwide.
São Brás and Alportel is the best small-sized Algarve municipality in the Global Ranking of Municipalities, with the highest global score and maintains the sixth position among the 16 municipalities in the district of Faro.
This ranking is calculated based on several indicators that are applied to the 208 Portuguese municipalities on the continent. The municipalities that obtained the highest global score are included in the ranking of the 100 best classified municipalities. In 2019, the total score was 1,900, with the municipality of São Brás de Alportel having obtained a score of 1,090.
This analysis highlights the financial management of the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel, for the best reasons, integrating the Algarve municipality in the Top 100 of the global ranking of small-sized municipalities and obtained the 25th place at national level.
The Financial Yearbook of Portuguese Municipalities of 2019 also evaluated the best index of total debt, which indicates which municipalities have the lowest amount of interest and financial charges paid. In this analysis, São Brás de Alportel remains in the second-best position at district level and went from 27th place at the national level obtained in 2018 to 19th place on this list.
This is a most relevant indicator for assessing the financial management of the municipality, which has shown an exemplary management of public funds. In this regard, it should be noted that the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel has been showing a consistent decline since 2013, when it obtained a total debt ratio of 0.33, presented in 2018 0.13 and in 2019 with only 0.083.
In the analysis of the municipalities with the lowest average payment term, the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel reached 43rd place at national level and 5th place at regional level, having an average of 6 days’ payments.
