In São Brás de Alportel, a solidary protection network has already produced 1,500 units of protective visors.
To be brilliant and supportive is to respond to the scarcity of protective equipment for health professionals and for all those who in the various sectors remain in public service functions, with the homemade production of protective visors that are very effective and therefore already they are being used in our hospitals, in social institutions, in the security forces and everywhere.
In São Brás de Alportel, a Solidary Production Network has been working almost 24 hours a day for weeks, and has been able to produce 1500 production visors!
It all started when two young people from São Paulo, Vitor Gonçalves and Pedro Gonçalves, both enthusiasts of 3D printing, started, in isolation, without mutual knowledge, to produce these visors, in their own homes.
The Municipality of São Brás de Alportel discovered them, brought them together and, with the collaboration of the Grouping of Schools, created a network of solidary production, ensuring the materials, logistics, transport and coordination of this mission.
Exceptional times demand versatility and the municipality’s collaborators have set an example: the Sports Unit is responsible for the assembly line, logistics and transportation of this solidary marathon for the production of protective visors.
The Indoor Swimming Pools building, temporarily closed due to the pandemic, is now the center of operations, where deliveries are made to institutions. So far, 1,500 individual protection visors have been distributed.
The project soon spread to other “makers” (producers) and at this moment to the two mentors who work almost 24 hours a day in this mission, the Solidarity Protection Network already has the collaboration of seven producers, including Paulo Cruz, who very promptly got together, and Vicente Leal and Luis Carlos Sousa from São Paulo!
In a few days, without rest, it was possible to deliver and protective visors to all the health units in the municipality, all Nursing Homes, Firefighters, GNR, Social Services and other essential services, but the São Bras Network also offers visors far beyond the borders of the municipality, integrated into a national circuit.
More than a thousand visors have already been delivered to the most diverse health services and solidarity institutions across the country, with priority being given to support for services aimed at the elderly!
The dream is to protect all professionals who provide services to the public, to stop the contagion and beat the Virus! The next step is to extend the distribution to all establishments in the municipality that sell essential goods and services.
The response from the São Brasense community has been extraordinary with help with materials and donations, which exceed € 3,000.00 and which have already enabled the acquisition of a large number of 3D printers, indispensable to expand and speed up production.
Everyone can help this network achieve its mission by simply delivering materials such as acetates, filament or 3D printers to the José Belchior Viegas Secondary School from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 6 pm. It is also possible to collaborate with donations.
