São Brás de Alportel Philharmonic promotes band direction workshop

Initiative culminates with a concert at Cineteatro São Brás, this Sunday, the 9th

The Associação Cultural e Recreativa Escola de Música Sambrasense (ACREMS) promotes, between the 7th and 9th of February, a Band Direction Workshop guided by Maestro José Eduardo Gomes.

An initiative that continues to invest in the quality and formation of the band, which is already a reference with the support of the municipality. The workshop aims to address several aspects related to the Orchestra Direction, more specifically the Band Direction, such as several subjects from the theoretical forum (analysis, music history and repertoire), and practical (technique and rehearsals with the Band…).

Each of the participants will also have the opportunity to enjoy platform time, directing the band, time that is essential for individual learning.

The work carried out over three days is celebrated this Sunday, starting at 4 pm, with a final concert, free of charge, for the general public scheduled for the Cineteatro São Brás. A show where all workshop participants will have the opportunity to direct the Banda Philharmonic of São Brás de Alportel.

Maestro José Eduardo Gomes was recently awarded the 1st Prize at the European Union Conducting Competition, having also won the Beethoven prize in the same contest.

He is the principal conductor of the Classical Orchestra of FEUP and Professor at the Superior School of Music and the Arts of the Spectacle of Porto, where he works with the various Orchestras. He was the principal conductor of the Classical Orchestra of the Center (2016 to 2018), associate conductor of the Classical Southern Orchestra (2018/2019), full conductor of the Porto Opera Circle Choir, in Porto (2011 to 2017) and main conductor of the Chambre Orchestra from Carouge, Switzerland, (2008 to 2011).

An initiative organized by ACREMS and supported by the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel.
