São Brás de Alportel strengthens Vale + Educação and extends measure to secondary education

Aware of the economic crisis caused by the new coronavirus COVID19 and the challenges it poses to families and companies that have seen their income limited, the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel approved on August 4 the reinforcement of the Vale + Educação measure that supports 1st cycle students to secondary school who attend schools in the municipality.

Each student will receive a voucher of 25 euros for the purchase of school supplies at the local São Brasense commerce. The Municipality also stresses that the support is also extended to students residing in the municipality but that, due to the lack of educational offer at Escola Secundária José Belchior Viegas, they are attending secondary school in another municipality.

Remember that in the academic year 2019/2020, Vale + Educação was delivered to students from the 1st to the 3rd cycle and consisted of a voucher of 20 euros. The reinforcement and expansion now approved represents a municipal investment of approximately 35 thousand euros to support families.

Vale + Educação is a measure integrated in the Family Support Plan, launched by the municipality in 2015, which also includes Vale + Natalidade, which aims to encourage births, helping families with the arrival of a new member; Vale + Saúde – Children’s ophthalmology with free ophthalmological screening for all pre-school and first cycle children; and the “+ family” training program, with free sessions on the most diverse and very relevant topics to promote positive parenting in the community.

Vale + Educação aims to be a tool to fight poverty and social exclusion of families, children and young people, in particular, as it promotes equal access to rights and opportunities, as well as stimulating motivation and improving quality in the teaching.

“As education is a priority for us, in this unexpected period of economic and social crisis, we could not fail to reinforce and expand this measure that contributes to support education and families and motivates our community to do their shopping in the local commerce”, explains the Mayor of São Brás de Alportel, Vitor Guerreiro.

In order to implement this measure, the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel, the José Belchior Viegas Group of Schools and the Association of Parents and Guardians of the José Belchior Viegas Group of Schools signed on August 5, a collaboration agreement for the attribution do Vale + Educação.

Those in charge of education can pick up Vale + Educação in the headquarters building of the City Council, next to the Presidential Support Office, from the second half of August and until October 30, on weekdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, upon presentation of the card the citizen of the guardian and the student.
