São João reopens on October 22nd

The reopening of the TNSJ headquarters building will take place on October 22, and this first weekend will take place the premiere of “Lear”, an in-house production based on the tragedy of William Shakespeare.

In addition to the debut of “Lear”, there are two other initiatives included in the commemorative program for the centenary of TNSJ and which were postponed because of the pandemic.

The first concerns the exhibition “10 Acts 100 Years”, curated by Gabriella Casella, about the 100 years of the São João building. March 2022, International Theater Day.

The other initiative included in the program commemorating the centenary of Porto’s national theater is the international colloquium entitled “Teatros Nacionales: Menções, Tensões, Transformações”.

It opens on October 22, with the American playwright and historian Marvin Carlson, 80, and admission is also free.
