Sara Correia fado with soul

Centro Cultural de Belém

The fado singer who currently personifies the fado with soul, however, brings modernity to the national song, with the collaboration of authors such as Carolina Deslandes, and always with a lot of heart in every fado she sings, it was another fantastic concert by Sara, this time in the Great Auditorium of the CCB.

A concert that marks the end of a Do Coração cycle, Sara recalled her nomination for the Latin Grammy, the PLAY award for Best Fado Album, and above all, the album that catapulted her to stages in the four corners of the world, but also the beginning another cycle with a new work, Liberdade.

It was with great anticipation that the public waited for the fado singer, the musicians enter and sit in the dark, and the first notes of “Alfama” can be heard. Sara Correia enters and is welcomed by an endless wave of applause. Much supported by an audience that filled the CCB, this night there was much applause, mixed with the traditional “a fadista”, song after song.

The fado singer continues to celebrate the album Do Coração, with “Antes que Dizas Adeus”, “Não Se Demore”, “Se O Mundo Dá Tantas Voltas” and “Tu Ganhas Sempre”. But before singing “Porquê do Fado”, an original by Carolina Deslandes, Sara Correia gives thanks and a well-deserved tribute to the author, and then, with her fantastic voice and passion, enraptures everyone with this fado.

Fado gained a more complex sound, with the synthesizer, trumpet, cello, and percussion, embodying the fado viola, bass guitar, and the melodious Portuguese guitar of Ângelo Freire, presenting some of the new themes of the next piece Liberdade.

She thanked her grandparents, who were present at the CCB, for everything they had done for her, and apologizing to her grandmother, she dedicated Zeca Afonso’s “Balada do Outono”  to her grandfather, not avoiding emotion and a few tears, but showing all the strength of her voice, she starts the “Fado  Português” solo, for which she receives another fantastic and well-deserved ovation, and then follows with “Pórtico”.

An explosion of joy follows in “Lisboa e o Tejo”, accompanied by the CCB audience, and continues with “Sou a Casa” and “Eu Quero”.

He then receives a guest, Stereossauro, to join this great fado party, music, Portuguese musicians, and celebrating the Portuguese language, sings “O Mundo Há-de Ser Mais” in the company of the Portuguese author and adds, “singing also changes the world”.

With the concert coming to an end, we can still hear, “Quero é Viver” the fantastic version of the song by the late António Variações, for an apotheotic moment of communion with the audience that applauded and sang with Sara and ends with the fado “Pechincha” and Fado Cravo, the theme that will give the name of the next album, “Liberdade”, before finishing, the audience even sang happy birthday to him, on this day of his birthday.

The fado singer was accompanied on stage by Marco Pombinho on the keys, on the fado viola, Diogo Clemente, on the bass guitar, Frederico Gato, on the cello, Sandra Martins, on the Portuguese guitar, Ângelo Freire, on the percussion, Joel Silva and the trumpet and flute, Diogo Duque.

But of course, the audience doesn’t let the fado singer go and Sara returns to sing another fado, which ends up singing without a microphone, and leaves the audience completely surrendered. And so ended an excellent fado concert signed by the Fado Museum and EGEAC by the great fado singer Sara Correia.

On June 17th, Sara Correia will be in Porto, at Casa da Música, if you can, don’t miss it, it will certainly be a memorable concert.
