Sara Correia grew up in a fado family, has been going to fado since she was a little girl and at just 13 years old she won the Grande Noite do Fado. Since a very young age, she has been a regular presence in Lisbon’s fado houses. Therefore, she sings with the aptitude and strength of someone who grew up in Fado.
In 2018 she releases her first album, the eponymous Sara Correia. Critics celebrate her debut and consider Sara Correia the «great voice of the new generation». This album earned him, in 2019, two nominations at the PLAY — Portuguese Music Awards, the Radio Festival Revelation Award and more than 30 concerts and sold-out audiences in Spain, South Korea, Norway, Italy, Austria, Reunion Island and, already in 2020, in India, Belgium, Holland and Chile.
In 2020 she releases Do Coração, her second studio album, again produced and conceived in partnership with Diogo Clemente. Traditional fado, where she imprints her power like no one else, coexists with themes written and composed for her voice, making them Fados. 2021 continues to smile at Sara Correia. She participated in the inauguration concert of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, at the CCB, where she sang accompanied by the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, alongside the renowned Camané, Carminho and Ana Moura. She won the PLAY — Portuguese Music Awards in the Best Fado Album category and performed live at the gala. It is still in 2021 that she sees her second album nominated for the Latin Grammy in the Best Portuguese Roots Album category.
In 2022 she plays Quero é Viver, an original by António Variações for the opening credits of the TVI soap opera with the same name. The song reaches, in the week of its release, the digital tops and YouTube trends. With the outbreak of war in Ukraine, Pedro Abrunhosa invites the fado singer to participate in the theme Que o Amor te Salve na Noite Dark in the solidarity concert Uma Voz pela Paz. The single hits #3 on YouTube’s trending list, with all proceeds being donated to We Help Ukraine.
2023 will be the year of Sara Correia’s third studio album. It is this album that she presents live in this great concert at the CCB.
