Sara Correia made the video for “Madrugou” available yesterday on her YouTube channel.
The song, which opens the fado singer’s latest album, Liberdade, is written by Mila Dores and portrays women as a force of nature. At the time of the album’s release, the author gave a statement about the song: “Full of feminine symbolism, ‘Madrugou’ is a song that is in that time of calm before the storm. It’s about using our greatest strength to break new ground.”
The music video is directed by João Pedro Moreira, who has worked with names such as Buraka Som Sistema, Branko and Ana Moura.
This is the second single taken from Liberdade, Sara Correia’s third album, released in October last year. “Chelas” had been her calling card and it was there, in the neighbourhood where she was born, that the fado singer performed these new songs live for the first time. Liberdade was released on CD and Vinyl and is available on all digital platforms.
Sara Correia continues to tour the country and beyond in what is already the biggest tour of her career.
