On a fado night at Casino Estoril, scheduled for next Wednesday, December 20th, at 10 pm, Sara Paixão and Gonçalo Castel Branco take the stage at Lounge D accompanied by the excellent guitarists Diogo Lucena and Quadros, Gustavo and Luis Roquette. Entry is free.
Sara Paixão
Born in Lisbon in 1991, Sara Paixão discovered fado during her adolescence through Amália Rodrigues. She felt conquered by this style that she characterizes as “unique” and began to give it a voice.
Sara Paixão had not sung or tried any other specific musical style and it was in fado that she discovered herself. After family approval, the young woman began her artistic journey in Amateur Fado competitions. She secured the podium in competitions in Loulé, Portimão and won, in 2011, the “Vadio Fado Competition” in the city of Olhão.
Gonçalo Castelbranco
Gonçalo Castelbranco will, once again, be highlighted in the fado cycle that takes place on Wednesdays at Lounge D. At the age of 28, he has already participated in several musical shows, both in Portugal and abroad, having been applauded for his leading role in the musical “O Nazareno”.
The fado roots are present in his voice, largely due to the influence of his family connections to Frei Hermano da Câmara. In the last two years, he has been a regular presence at “Arredar Bar”, a historic fado house in Cascais, which was restored for the region’s big fado nights, and where Gonçalo Castelbranco was the resident artist.
