Sara Paixão took the stage in Lounge D at Casino Estoril last November 25th accompanied by Luís Roquette on Viola de Fado and Diogo Quadras on Portuguese guitar, for a night of traditional fado (Franklim Sextilhas).
Owner of a beautiful voice and a contagious smile, this young fado singer charmed with her sympathy everyone who went to Casino Estoril to hear her sing, the singer tells us that “singing is like oxygen you need in your daily life”, unfortunately, she has not sung as much as you would like, but thank Casino Estoril for the opportunity to take the stage, as well as the audience for there presence.
Themes like “Eu queria cantar-te um Fado” and “Meu nome sabe-me a areia”
The fado singer started in Fado at the age of 16, having a predilection for different types of Fado, stating that “traditional fados are part of her growth as an artist”, Fado Franklim Sextilhas, Fado Alberto, Fado Triplicado. So she sung “Saudades da Tú Voz” “Desengano” by Maria Teresa de Noronha.
Followed by “Maria Lisboa” and on this fado, the Fadista reveals that it was her first fado sung live, in an amateur fado contest, which took place in São Domingos de Benfica, she was 16 years old.
Next are “Deus me Perdoe” and “Amar não é Pecado“, whitch recalls the city of Lisbon, and the festivities of Santo António that this year, because of COVID 19, did not take place, and includes “Marcha de Santo António“.
The theme “Adeus” is an original, with a poem by Carlos Leitão, sings verses by Mário Rainho “Pra Onde quer que me Volte”, honoring Maria da Fé we heard “Sou Tua” and with lyrics by José Luís Gordo “Porque Teimas nesta Dor” and affirming that “I couldn’t help being” sings Teresa Tarouca with“ O Riso que Deste que Deste ”.
At the end of the show Sara Paixão asks the public not to give in to fear, to remember that culture is part of our lives, that artists need the public to continue.
With “A Despedida ” with verses by Pedro Homem de Melo and “A Saudade é Minha ” the singer ends her concert with an audience standing in a well-deserved ovation.
Sara Paixão was born in Lisbon in 1991 and it is with the voice of Grande Amália Rodrigues that her great musical passion is born: Fado. However, the singer is an Oral Hygienist by profession. In her interview, she confides that “in a job interview she was told that because of the companies departure times she would have to choose between two careers” but Sara never gave up and resilient continues to practice her profession and delight the public with her friendliness and your smile. The fado singer performs regularly in several Casas de Fado such as Mr. Vinho.
