Sebastianas 2025 with Calema, Sam The Kid, Carminho and Bispo

With 130 years of history celebrated this year, Sebastianas returns to Freamunde between July 10 and 15.
Originally a religious festival in honour of Saint Sebastian, today it is a mix of sacred and profane festival, where music, urban art and cultural activities come together, without ever forgetting the roots and religious tradition.
Every year, the festival revolves around a theme. After the theme “Freedom” marked the 2024 edition in the year of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of April 25, this year Sebastianas intends to pay homage to history, local roots and Portuguese identity. “Traditions” is the theme of the 2025 edition of what is currently one of the most sought-after cultural and tourist events in the north of the country, having attracted more than 500 thousand visitors in recent editions!
There will be music for all tastes on the various stages of Sebastianas, such as Bispo (who recently released the album “Entre Nós”), Carminho, Clemente, Calema (who filled the Estádio da Luz last weekend), Danni Gato, Sam the Kid (in a DJ set with DJ Big and Sir Scratch), Biia and Nel Monteiro.
But the excitement of Sebastianas goes far beyond music. The “Noite de Bombos”, an open street with more than 1,500 revellers playing drums, is one of the strongest and has a tradition of more than 20 years! Fireworks and pyromusical displays are one of the most appreciated traditions, even giving rise to the pyrotechnic concept of “final à Freamunde”. The majestic procession in honour of São Sebastião, with 15 floats, stretches over 2 km through the streets of Freamunde, which are typically decorated with a large and majestic carpet of wooden ribbons painted in various colours (waste from the furniture industry in the region). There would be no Sebastianas without the Allegorical March, with various moments of entertainment such as samba schools, drum groups, circus entertainment and floats, the latter produced in the Sebastianas workshops by volunteers who dedicate their time and art to benefit the community, another highlight of the Sebastianas.
