Handball team loses to Sweden (28-29)
The National Team suffered its second defeat in the group stage of the Tokyo Olympics handball tournament, losing by the smallest margin (28-29) to Sweden.
After the defeat against Egypt and the triumph over Bahrain, in the first two rounds, Portugal fell again, this time against the world vice-champion team, in a balanced duel that reached the half-time tied (14-14).
André Gomes, Alexis Borges and Miguel Martins, with four goals each, were the best scorers of the Quinas team, who are now starting to think about Friday’s duel with Denmark, current Olympic champion and two-time world champion.
Closing the group stage, which qualifies the top four, Portugal will face hosts Japan on Sunday.
