Semibreve Festival takes place over the weekend

What was prepared for this year was postponed to October 2021, with a program based on the idea of ​​seclusion, of confinement, with the Tibães Monastery as the central element where sound works will be placed and where performances by the invited artists will be recorded.

The festival ordered unpublished sound works from seven artists, including Jim O’Rourke, Beatriz Ferreyra, Ana da Silva, and Tyondai Braxton, who will be installed in the monastery and virtually accessible in streaming on the Semibreve website.

Also recorded online, on the two days of the festival, previously recorded performances by five artists invited by Semibreve, the result of artistic residencies in Braga: Pedro Maia, Klara Lewis, Laurel Halo, Nik Void and Oliver Coates.

The Semibreve will also have a program of conversations that deal with contemporary creation in the areas of electronic, experimental, and sound art.

Artists Chris Watson and David Toop, curators Nuno Crespo and Margarida Mendes, researcher Raquel Castro and programmer Pedro Santos are some of the guests in these conversations.
