“Sensatez” by João Navarro now available

Life together is a challenge. Sometimes ending a relationship is not only inevitable but even recommended. However, it is also true that there is a growing tendency to give up easily without making an effort to find possible paths when there are relationships that must be preserved.

Everything that surrounds us, from family to friends, from work to our hobbies, impacts and robs us of time that, many times, should make us stop, think and try again… “It’s a matter of wisdom”!

João Navarro was born in Lisbon in 1979, having spent his childhood between Parede and Cascais. In 1990, he takes his first steps in music exploring an old upright piano that the family had at home. In 1993, at the age of 14, he made his live debut in a blues band – Rebel Blues Band. In 1997, for professional reasons, he moved to Coimbra, and it was in the city of students that his first band of originals – Capitães – was born. João Navarro, self-taught, started in singing, accompanying himself on the piano, giving voice to his compositions – music and lyrics.

In 2003, he released his first album with the band CapitãesContratempo”, which was followed by live performances throughout the country. 2005 is the start of a new original project – Chauffeur Navarrus. Until 2010, he recorded video clips with Chauffeur Navarrus and recorded the album “Estradas Localis” interspersed with the band’s concerts. The first seasons appear on the stages of Casino Lisboa and Estoril, among other passages on various national stages. In 2012, João Navarro makes a musical stop and, in Viseu, meets the pianist José Carmo.

For five years he dedicated himself to learning this instrument, studying, exercising and practicing new techniques and repertoires that allowed him to gain a new vision and approach to the piano. In the last years that João Navarro lived in Viseu, he considered the possibility of working with a producer and musicians of reference in the national music scene.

It was with his move and definitive return to Cascais that he allowed him to fulfill his desire and the opportunity to record his first album in his own name. Closer to Nelson Canoa’s studio – Canoa Studios in Torres Vedras, to whom he used for production work and selection of musicians, a pandemic came together that turned out to be an accelerator for the realization of this project.

The “Limited Edition” disc will be available on CD and will be released on streaming platforms from March 4th.
