Sérgio Marques is IRONMAN’s world champion
The Portuguese Sérgio Marques was today champion of the ‘ironman’ world for triathletes between the ages of 35 and 39, in a race held in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
Sérgio Marques completed in 8: 35.12 hours the 3.8 kilometers of swimming, 180 kilometers of cycling and 42 kilometers of athletics, being even the fastest among all athletes in age groups and 30th among all athletes.
Among the professionals, the German Jan Frodeno (7: 51.13 hours) and also Germanic Anna Faug (8: 40.10) were world champions.
Rui Narigueta was the other Portuguese to finish the race with a time of less than 10 hours, with 9:35.52, being 32nd in the group of 40 to 44 hours.
