The housing crisis serves as the starting point for PORTA PREMIUM, the new comedy series created and directed by Tota Alves, which arrives on RTP Play on November 24th.
Filmed in a mockumentary format, the series follows the daily life of the most successful real estate agency in Loures.
While the country faces one of the most pressing issues of our time, the consultants at Porta Premium prepare for the Porta Premium Real Estate Award ceremony, convinced that the film being produced will highlight their “incredible work.” But the director has other plans—and takes the opportunity to expose the funniest and most contradictory moments in the real estate market.
Starring Gonçalo Waddington as Ramiro Pais, the series also features Sónia Balacó, Tânia Alves, Mauro Herminio, and Janico Durão, as well as special appearances by Rita Pereira, Miguel Guilherme, Carlos Pereira, João Pedro Bénard, Paul Williams, and Leonor Silva.
Inspired by the DNA of titles like The Office and Parks and Recreation, PORTA PREMIUM brings a contemporary look to a universe familiar to everyone: billboards, flyers, and consultants who promise to find the perfect home.
Director Tota Alves emphasises this point in the statement accompanying the series:
“Porta Premium is a comedy about the housing crisis. On the one hand, homes are a right; on the other, they are a business. I wanted to explore this conflict and, at the same time, give us space to laugh at a real problem.”
With five 25-minute episodes, PORTA PREMIUM will be available from November 24th exclusively on RTP Play, the free public streaming service.
ABOUT TOTA ALVES
Tota Alves is 35 years old, grew up in Rio Tinto and studied History in Coimbra. Only at the age of 28 did she decide to study Screenwriting for Film and Television and try her luck in cinema and audiovisual media. In 2020, she launched her first series on RTP Play as creator and director, MY BLOOD and DOLORES. She wrote the screenplays for the series ERROR 404 and THE CROSSING. In 2024, her first short film premiered at IndieLisboa, WE MANAGED TO MAKE A FILM, which has had an international trajectory in film festivals, totalling 10 awards. PORTA PREMIUM is her first work with professional actors and actresses.
