EXHIBITION ‘THE ART OF THE TIP’

Until December 2, the temporary exhibition room of the Sabugal Museum hosts the exhibition ‘A Arte do Telho’, by Carlos Pinto, a native of Bendada.

The exhibition ‘A Arte do Telho’ presents a set of artistically sculpted pieces on granite and wood harmoniously coupled with steel applications. The originality and creativity of the pieces are evident in this collection that Carlos Pinto seeks to bring to life in order to communicate and tell a story to the public that appreciates them.

 

The Christmas City-Guarda

The Guard returns to being The Christmas City in 2018 with a program of Christmas animation that promises to cuddle the hearts of guardians and visitors between December 1st and 25th.

Praça Luís de Camões (Praça Velha) will once again be the center of all the animation, in it will be installed the Ice Rink, which returns in this edition with a renewed look and promises to entertain especially the audience for children and young people. Another novelty, in 2018, will be the Electric Train with its beautiful wooden station and a magical route. To see also the huge Interactive Christmas Tree, Musical Coreto with the band of the animals, the beautiful Parisian Carousel, the Father’s House, the Photo Balloon and Ice Island. As a backdrop to this Christmas City, there will be the monumental Cathedral of the Guard, lit for the occasion.

New Year’s Eve in Guarda with Dama and João Pedro Pais

The Municipal Council of Guarda wants the entry in 2019 to be unforgettable and made from the heart of the “highest” city and so on 31 December all roads will lead to Praça Luís de Camões [Praça Velha].

The party starts very early, at 10.30 pm, with the João Pedro Pais concert. With more than 20 years of career and hundreds of concerts, João Pedro Pais is today one of the most cherished artists by the Portuguese public. The artist promises to warm the night of the highest city, accompanying the public until midnight, when the count is given for the new year.
Welcome to 2019 is the traditional Fireworks Show, at 24:00, from the Keep and the Cathedral.

At 00h20, the Dama go up to the stage of the Old Square. The Portuguese group, consisting of Francisco Maria Pereira (Kasha), Miguel Coimbra and Miguel Cristovinho ensures the animation of this second part of the night guardense.

3rd Hall of Autumn of the Museum of Guarda

«Open for Works» presents new expositions of Cubism and Portuguese surrealism, which will take place from November 7 to January 8, 2019, in the Guarda Museum.

On November 7 will open doors to the public, opening at 7:30 pm the 3rd Hall of Autumn of the Museum of Guarda – “Open for Works”. This year’s edition, which includes, in addition to the plastic creations of several areas, which include works that originated in the 3rd International Symposium of Contemporary Art City of Guarda (SIAC) has as a novelty a tribute to the founder of Futurism in Portugal, Guilherme of Santa-Rita (Santa-Rita Pintor) and works of one of the most emblematic representatives of Portuguese Surrealism, Eurico Gonçalves.
The initiative, which reinforces the new dynamics of the museum managed by the Municipality of Guarda, runs until January 8, 2019, and among the various moments are the exhibitions of Javier Seco and Susana Miranda, Photo Clube da Guarda, the Cineclube of Guarda and the Center for Iberian Studies, as well as the inauguration of the Via Pictorial – Digital Wall Panels, the installation of sculptures at the International Campus of Contemporary Sculpture and the presentation of several catalogs, including the Paula Rego exhibition. The edition counts on the collaboration of the Municipality of Foz Côa, where a monolith will be inaugurated.
