Serra da Gardunha – Fundão
Set out to discover the municipality of Fundão and enjoy the Serra da Gardunha through 12 small hiking trails that allow you to observe the flora and fauna of this magnificent site.
Gardunha, only 20 km long, rises to 1227 m. A few years ago its landscape was dominated by chestnut trees, still existing but in much smaller quantities, now dominates the area with the highest cherry production, the widely known Fundão Cherry.
In the county you can visit the Historic Village of Castelo Novo, with charter awarded by D.Sancho I in 1202 having been county until 1835, and the beautiful village of Alpedrinha, where the famous party “Os Chocalhos” is held whose theme is transhumance.
