The creation of the Peneda-Geres aimed at achieving this mountainous area of planning capable of valuing human activities and natural resources, with a view educational, tourist and scientific. To get to Geres should go towards the municipality of Terras de Bouro, in the Minho province. Terras de Bouro is bordered on the north by Galicia, northeast by Bridge Municipality of Barca west by Vila Verde municipality, to the south by Amares municipality, south-west at Vieira do Minho municipality and the east, the Municipality of Montalegre.

7 NATURAL WONDERS

The Peneda-Geres National Park is considered one of the 7 Wonders of Portugal in the category of Protected Areas. The announcement was made at a ceremony in Portas do Mar, in Ponta Delgada, and broadcast live on RTP, having been revealed the names of those who will be, from now on, the ‘7 Wonders of Portugal.’
